Marangu Route Mt Kilimanjaro

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport.
Transfer to hotel in Moshi (overnight stay).
Pre-climb briefing in the evening.

Elevation: 6,000 ft (1,800 m) to 9,000 ft (2,700 m)
Distance: 8 km (5 miles)
Begin trek from Marangu Gate through lush rainforests.
Arrive at Mandara Hut and settle in for the night.

Elevation: 9,000 ft (2,700 m) to 12,500 ft (3,800 m)
Distance: 12 km (7.5 miles)
Trek through moorland and enjoy views of Mawenzi Peak.
Arrive at Horombo Hut for overnight stay.

Elevation: 12,500 ft (3,800 m) (rest day)
Day hike options: Short trek to Zebra Rocks or Mawenzi Hut.
This day is crucial for acclimatization.

Elevation: 12,500 ft (3,800 m) to 15,500 ft (4,700 m)
Distance: 10 km (6.2 miles)
Trek through the alpine desert to Kibo Hut.
Prepare for the summit attempt later.

Elevation: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak (19,341 ft / 5,895 m) and back to Horombo Hut
Total elevation change: 19,341 ft to 12,500 ft
Depart in the early hours (midnight) to begin the ascent to Uhuru Peak.
Celebrate reaching the summit and then descend back to Horombo Hut for the night.

Elevation: 12,500 ft (3,800 m) to 6,000 ft (1,800 m)
Distance: 20 km (12.4 miles)
Enjoy a leisurely descent, concluding your trek at Marangu Gate.
Transfer back to Moshi and overnight stay at a hotel.
